Tina Li

Applied Mathematics Sciences

Graduating 2027

Hi, my name is Tina Li! I am a first year applied mathematics sciences major. I have been a part of the SATAL program since spring 2024. I joined SATAL to gain more experience in working with data and gain more research skills. It is also a good opportunity to help improve learning for students. Through SATAL I learned how to efficiently organize data in excel and provide better feedback. Working alongside peers has helped me to improve communicating with team members. My future goal is to work in the field of data analysis. As someone who wants to learn more about the field of statistics and data analytics, working in SATAL has been helpful to develop those skills. Even beyond that, it has helped me to become a better team worker and time management. Outside of being a SATAL student I enjoy drawing, painting, and badminton.

Annalie Ma

Psychology (Pre-Health Program)

Graduating 2027

Hi, my name is Annalie Ma! I am a first year psychology major. I have been a part of the SATAL program since spring 2024. I initially joined SATAL to gain work experience and meet new people! I found SATAL’s mission statement of improving learning experiences for all students inspiring. SATAL has taught me several valuable skills in my time working here. Through SATAL I’ve learned to not only gain a better understanding on how to provide effective feedback but also how to efficiently communicate in a work setting! In addition, this job has also trained me in both utilizing Excel spreadsheets for data compilation and on how to collect useful survey responses. My future goal is to  finish up my undergrad here in UC Merced and pursue higher education in medical school to hopefully become a psychiatrist! SATAL has taught me the importance of effective communication! Outside of being a SATAL student, I enjoy reading and writing in my free time! I also enjoy going to the gym and swimming!

Elena Navarro

Political Science

Graduating 2025

Hi, my name is Elena Navarro! I am a second year political science major. I have been a part of the SATAL program since fall 2023. I joined SATAL because I have a love for education and I hope to improve the educational experiences of my peers. I believe knowledge is power and everyone deserves to receive an education that is meeting their needs. Eliminating barriers in higher education is something SATAL strives to do, which is something I am proud to be a part of. SATAL has given me the opportunity to gain skills in the analysis of data, public speaking and building community. I hope to one day take what I’ve learned from SATAL and go into education to teach environmental policy in higher education. Outside of being a SATAL student I enjoy being a part of the Bobcat Band and the Field Curious program!
